Tata Steel Thailand reports Operating Results
for Q2FY27 (July – September 2026)

Bangkok – October 28, 2026 – Tata Steel Thailand announced its financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The Company recorded sales volume of 313,000 tons and profit before tax of 255 Mn THB for the quarter, while continuing to navigate subdued market conditions and pressure on selling prices.

Mr Anurag Pandey, President and CEO, Tata Steel (Thailand) Public Company Limited
stated that “The Company recorded deliveries of 313,000 tons during the quarter, representing a decrease of 6% from the preceding quarter and 12% from the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The decrease mainly reflected subdued domestic demand, slower construction activity and cautious inventory management across the value chain. For the six-month period ended September 30, 2026, the Company’s sales volume was 647,000 tons, compared with 694,000 tons in the corresponding period of the previous year.”

“Reflecting lower sales volume and selling prices, the Company’s revenue from sales and related services decreased to 6,094 Mn THB for the quarter, 10% lower than the preceding quarter and 17% lower than the corresponding quarter of the previous year. For the six-month period ended September 30, 2026, revenue from sales and related services decreased to 12,875 Mn THB, 9% lower than the corresponding period of the previous year.”

“The Company reported profit before tax of 255 Mn THB for the quarter, compared with 524 Mn THB in the preceding quarter and 1,067 Mn THB in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. For the six-month period ended September 30, 2026, the Company reported profit before tax of 779 Mn THB, compared with 1,540 Mn THB in the corresponding period of the previous year. The lower profitability in both periods was mainly attributable to lower sales volume and margin pressure arising from softer selling prices and subdued market conditions.”

“The Company continues to focus on disciplined cost management, product mix improvement, the development of higher-value products and export opportunities, while maintaining close engagement with customers amid evolving market conditions.”

Tata Steel Thailand Calls for Stronger Standards and Fair Competition to Advance Thailand’s Steel Industry

Building on EAF capabilities to produce high-quality steel, while strengthening safety standards and reinforcing the long-term competitiveness of Thailand’s steel industry.

Tata Steel Thailand believes that the next phase of development for Thailand’s steel industry must focus on production technology, product quality and safety, and a fair competitive environment. These priorities are essential to transforming the industry’s existing strengths into sustainable long-term competitiveness.

Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) technology is an important pathway for the modern steel industry. In addition to recycling scrap steel, EAF technology has the capability to produce high-quality steel when supported by appropriate refining processes and effective control of chemical composition and production parameters. It also offers the potential for lower carbon emissions compared with certain other steelmaking routes. Actual emissions, however, depend on factors including raw materials, energy sources and the boundaries used for measurement.

The company believes that the development of steel product standards should be grounded in engineering evidence, demonstrated performance and consistent quality. This is particularly important for products that are critical to the safety of buildings and infrastructure, where safety must be ensured throughout the service life of a structure rather than assessed solely on the basis of test results at a single point in time. Standards development should therefore go hand in hand with innovation, guided by sound evidence and suitability for actual applications.

At the industry level, Tata Steel Thailand believes Thailand should consider developing or expanding appropriate mandatory standards to cover steel products that are critical to safety, including downstream wire rod products such as CHQ (Cold Heading Quality), HCWR (High Carbon Wire Rod) and LRPC (Low Relaxation Prestressing Steel). Requirements should reflect the intended applications, associated risks and relevant technical evidence. This should be accompanied by effective product traceability and enforcement mechanisms.

Creating a level playing field also requires appropriate standards and effective enforcement. Better coordination among relevant government agencies is important to strengthen import inspections and oversight of the use of investment incentives and other privileges, helping to address potential gaps that could undermine the intended objectives of existing measures. Appropriate trade remedies should also be applied where the relevant legal requirements are met.

Tata Steel Thailand believes that stronger standards, effective enforcement and the preservation of domestic manufacturing capabilities, technology and skilled personnel must advance together. This integrated approach will help Thailand’s steel industry compete through quality, innovation and sustainable production, while delivering long-term benefits to steel users and the Thai economy.
