Anticipating 385 Million EUR Economic Boost

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB, as the national bidder for Gastech 2026, joined forces with the Ministry of Energy, DMG Events, the event organizer, and key energy-sector partners at the official opening of Gastech 2025 in Milan, Italy. The Thai delegation highlighted the country’s readiness to host the 2026 edition of Gastech from 15–18 September 2026 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC).

Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), or TCEB,
said Thailand's debut as the host of Gastech 2026 in Italy reflects the country’s integrated MICE industry ecosystem, showcasing public-private collaboration in driving the success of world-class events. This partnership has been a key factor in Thailand earning the trust to take over from Italy as the host of Gastech 2026, underscoring the country's readiness as a premier international event destination in Asia. Moreover, it represents a significant opportunity for TCEB to propel the national economy by leveraging events to promote trade and investment, foster business opportunities, and advance industrial development toward sustainability, particularly within strategic and future industries, including the energy sector.

“Thailand's winning bid to host Gastech 2026 highlights the country’s role in the global energy industry and reinforces its position as a leader in Asia’s energy sector and an international exhibition hub in the Southeast Asian region or ASEAN. The event also offers wide-ranging benefits, supporting economic growth and industrial development.”

Hosting Gastech 2026 presents Thailand with opportunities for business negotiations and knowledge exchange with leading global energy players, as well as for bilateral and multilateral collaborations to advance future energy development. The event will boost the economy through tourism, spending, and job creation for Thai nationals, while enhancing Thailand’s international profile and global role, with energy ministers and high-level officials from multiple countries in attendance.

Gastech 2026 is expected to attract over 50,000 attendees from 150 countries, including more than 1,000 exhibiting companies and over 1,000 energy experts. The event is projected to generate an economic impact of 385 million EUR, including 198 million EUR in revenue for Thailand, 26.9 million EUR in taxes, and the creation of around 4,700 jobs.

“As a driving force behind the MICE industry’s contribution to national development, TCEB is confident that Gastech’s return to Thailand after 18 years will be a resounding success. This confidence is based on the country’s readiness, supported by skilled professionals across the public and private sectors, world-class venues and hotels experienced in hosting international conferences and exhibitions, and Thailand’s travel infrastructure, including Suvarnabhumi Airport, which holds a top global ranking for the largest number of airlines it serves, complemented by renowned Thai hospitality and a wide variety of leisure options for business travellers,” added TCEB President.
