A Catalyst for International Pet Industry Growth
30 October 2024, Bangkok – VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, in partnership with Globus Events, the Ministry of Commerce, the Department of Livestock Development, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and key associations from both the public and private sectors, proudly presents Pet Fair South East Asia 2024, held from October 30 – November 1 at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC).
Now in its third edition, Pet Fair South East Asia has grown into a global hub for the pet industry, facilitating distribution, retail, sourcing, and learning. The event welcomes nearly 400 exhibitors from 40 countries and trade visitors from over 80 countries. The 2024 edition also features international pavilions from 12 countries and an extensive conference program with over 40 expert speakers addressing key industry topics. This year, "Thai Pet Avenue" will highlight Thailand’s dynamic SMEs, showcasing innovative products that blend creativity with quality. Additionally, the fair will feature a dedicated "Pet Trade Service Consultants Zone" where experts will advise on trade regulations, imports, exports, and global product standards, helping businesses expand into new markets.
With over 10,000 visitors expected, the event is forecasted to generate up to 850 million baht (around 25 million USD) in trade value from deals closed during and after the fair. This significant gathering aims to drive long-term growth and forge partnerships to strengthen the pet industry in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, Advisory Team to the Minister of Commerce, and Chairman of the Opening Ceremony, remarked, “Thailand’s pet industry, especially the pet food sector, is a vital contributor to the nation’s economy. As a global leader in pet food production and the second-largest exporter worldwide, trailing only Germany, Thailand demonstrates significant industry prowess. By the close of Q3 2024, Thailand’s pet food exports surpassed $2.2 billion, reflecting a notable 26% growth year-over-year. This impressive expansion underscores the dedication and expertise of Thai pet food manufacturers in delivering high-quality, internationally acclaimed products that cater to a broad spectrum of consumers across global markets.”
Dr. Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, Director General of the Department of Livestock Development, added, “The Department of Livestock Development recognizes the pet food industry as a sustainable sector with strong potential to generate substantial income and drive national growth. In response, the Department has established the Pet Food Service Center (PFSC) to streamline services and serve as a central hub for the industry. We have also launched the New Single Window electronic system to enhance convenience and expedite processes for pet food entrepreneurs, thereby supporting the development of a competitive and sustainable pet food industry in Thailand, aligned with international standards.”
Mr. Salanroj Sutaschuto, Senior Vice President (Chief Operating Officer: COO) and Acting Director of Administration Department of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), emphasized, said “This marks the third edition remarkable event, which has steadily grown in stature and success. With over 20,000 square meters of exhibit space and participation from 400 global brands, it underscores the increasing importance of the pet industry, both in Southeast Asia and worldwide. Mr. Jeroen Van Hooff, President & CEO of Royal Dutch Jaarbeurs, stated, “For this third edition, we are proud to welcome 400 exhibitors from 40 countries, including 100 new companies.
